Ajuga

The quest to reach closure in our home continues. This weekend I planted 24 ajuga plants around our tree in back. The area has long been an eyesore, and I haven't known quite what to do to fix it. I think we got it! When I mowed the area on Sunday, I was pleased. Where I mowed was green, and where I didn't mow was weeded by hand. It looks good. No longer a dust bowl with scrappy grass.

It was so interesting-- on Sunday. Jim and I both stretched ourselves to do more yard work, trimming, sweeping and blowing the leaves clean. When I gazed at our handiwork that evening, I noticed new details. There was a quietness. The pattern of the shade from the trees on the grass. The pecking of the birds. I noticed these things, because I was not distracted by details left unfinished.

Alas,... time to get moving. I spend so much time sitting down. I need to get up! Dishes to put away, laundry to fold, pups to feed, and then time to get ready for work. I hope you have a great week ahead!
