Jeannie

Jeannie Mahood is the first person that I connected with as a fellow creativity enthusiast. She led our emerging church arts group, listened to my dreams, and encouraged me to lead.

I have attended two of Jeannie's workshops, one on Proverbial Dolls, and one on Zentangle. In both, I accessed a softer side of myself.

Jeannie has continued to build on her workshops, now featured at several of the leading arts institutions in town. It's nice to see consistant, inspired work rewarded. I found some pictures of Jeannie & Joan's Zentangle workshop at Binders Art School. They look like they're having fun.

What would my life like be with more interactions like this? Every few years I touch base with Jeannie via email. I have averaged one conversation per year of similar encouragement with others in the field.

I have been protective during formative stages of my work. It's hard work to listen for what I need to be doing. The added complexity of other people's words can create a confusing whirlwind within.

I hope that I am at the end of this formative period, and am ready to get out and about, intermingle, share. It seems we accelerate in pace when we bounce around ideas.

For the moment, I'm quiet. Open, but unengaged.
