I talk too much about myself and my work. I have plants in the house, that plant lovers look at and grimace. My fridg is a mess. Expansionary ideas loom, underlining a lack of energy, time, for completion.
I am scared of being overly optimistic. I remember as a girl getting a great haircut, the enormous smile on my face as I swished my hair. And the immediate need to wipe the smile off my face. My brothers would see it and give me a hard time.
Luise gave me an orchid with graceful pink blooms. Loud and quiet at the same time. Gorgeous! They are an island of beauty in a sea of work.
A stone dropped in a pond creates waves.
I am working toward closure, a new habit toward appreciation of the end, not just the means. I like to steam clean my kitchen floor once per week. But the tiles by the wall have a stubborn dirt that only comes off with hand scrubbing. I've taken the time lately to do that additional work, so that when I finish the task, it looks complete. No nagging worries ignored.
But in taking the extra time, I take away. How to add it all up? Why the focus on 40%? I finish a huge task, and stack another in my path immediately. What about enjoyment?
Alas, I'll get there. It's July 1st today. The first day of the second half of the year. I am encouraged to think of my art as a business. Profit motive. Driven by closure, completed deals. How do I don that mindset?
I'm getting closer. I really want to connect.
On to work. I have some magnetic poetry that I'd like to share. I wonder how it will look? I hope you have a great week ahead.
