The term, "Opportunity Cost" in Economics refers to things that you did not do. In choosing to be here today, I am not running on the treadmill. In choosing to go to work this morning, I am not following my dreams. In watching t.v. last night, I was not painting in acrylics. In not purchasing the Galaxy tablet, dollars are still in the bank.
How do we make these choices? Out of comfort? Strategy? Direction? Love? Goodness, I have the post birthday blues. Sorry!! So how to break free, get on a good track, feel optimistic?
This morning I will choose the ridiculous. Poke it in the belly of the moment, fine grain dirt pushed aside. A worn walking stick. Brush the ground clean, see it dry and firm. How to dig deep? Start a fire above and warm the ground below? Wait for the water of Spring?
And so today is a Monday. Some carrot juice in the fridg but just enough for today and tomorrow. The grass will need mowing on Wednesday. Work calls.
Like situps, I need to fold in on my art and deepen the grain. Repeat steps, continue. Like pushups, the choice so ever ready, to enter the heat or not. Our own gravity a tool, we can press.
I have come close to adding outlets, venues. But so far, I remain with two outlets, one venue. I offer 5x6 customizable pen & ink t-shirts on Zazzle, and 11x14 abstract figurative pen & ink prints at Saatchi Online. I am close to posting old artworks recently touched up. So much work to scan, fix up, name and describe. Much of the new work I am not fond of. A thankless task to upload when no one is waiting. And then there is the fear of the empty canvas waiting on the other side. Argh.
How can I describe the responsibility that I feel? To go on. Continue.
Yesterday's sermon was about Faith. We face our challenges ourself, choosing faith as our companion. We are not just people of the Cross (carrying burden), but also people of the Resurrection (expecting miracles). The feeling of faith is a hope and joy all bundled up, my own. It warms my eyes and smile. I can do this.
I hope you have a great week ahead.
